General Foreman Summary

We are searching for a qualified candidate to supervise and monitor the progress of underground utility pipeline construction, and oversee millions of dollars in construction materials. This is a DOT-regulated and safety-sensitive position (FMCSA and/or PHMSA).

 

The General Foreman is guaranteed 40 hours per week and is eligible for benefits.

 

The General Foreman must keep construction progress in line with the overall project schedule and cost estimate, as well as train crew members to comply with company safety practices. He/she will be responsible for supporting both vacuum excavation (maintenance) and construction crews as directed by the superintendent.

 

General Foreman Main Responsibilities:

  • Define project goals; assist in establishing pre-job plans.
  • Assist in determining resource requirements, i.e., directional drills, vacuum excavation, sewer camera, and personnel.
  • Interact regularly with inspectors; aid in negotiations and communication.
  • Ensure quality of work provided by crews.
  • Ensure quality and compliance according to customer specifications and Miller Pipeline requirements.
  • Conduct a minimum of three thorough safety and quality inspections per week.
  • Assist in handling customer complaints and concerns.
  • Attend and participate in daily huddles.
  • Make every effort to start and end a day on the job.
  • Ensure proper housekeeping and appearance of jobsites.
  • Assist in answering questions regarding WINS (time and attendance) entries; accuracy and hours charged to units.
  • Assist in identifying best candidates for job openings.
  • Assist in incident reporting.
  • Assist in completing a review of job ending paperwork.
  • Conduct jobsite visits after completion of projects to ensure quality and completeness.

 

General Foreman Required Qualifications:

  • Leadership of crews in the areas of safety, quality and meeting performance targets.
  • Project planning including resource requirements.
  • Effective communication with foremen, crew members, inspectors, customers and consumers.
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ gas pipeline construction experience; comprehensive understanding of the business
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • CDL or ability to obtain one after employment
  • Strong work ethic, and thrive in working outdoors and building teams
  • Basic computer skills, including an understanding of Microsoft Outlook
  • Great problem-solving skills
  • Customer orientation including compliance to specifications and handling complaints.
  • Attention to detail, including in areas of project management and reporting work hours.

General Foreman Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate’s degree or trade school certificate
