We are searching for a qualified Field Engineer to work out of Alameda, CA. They will prepare projects with utility locate marks, meetings with customer’s field personnel, city officials, and subcontractors. Communicate with the public that may be affected by the fieldwork being performed. Create documentation for project extras. Verify the correctness of project paperwork from the field before it comes into the office.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Complete pre/post-job reviews, checking the work prior to construction.
  • Attend pre-construction meetings with the customer and/or outside jurisdictional agencies, as necessary.
  • Support crews during construction by coordinating clearances and retirement of gas main and services, ensuring material type is correct.
  • Close out estimates, complete post-construction checks, along with review all as-built drawings for accuracy.
  • Develop final construction as-built packages to 100% accuracy.
  • Assist scheduling group as necessary.
  • Provide technical and engineering services.
  • Conduct job reviews, pre-check jobs, do USA markings and request site surveys.
  • Coordinate the Request For Information (RFI) process, start to finish.
  • Investigate customer/3rd party issues pertaining to general construction projects.
  • Support superintendent with daily routine issues regarding construction of jobs.
  • Use computer to research and write proposals, correspondence and email.
  • Compile, copy, file and mail reports; use phone, copier, and scanner.
  • Reproduce maps, plans, diagrams, and drawings.
  • Determine supplies and place orders for materials.
  • Prepare service orders.
  • Communicate with supervisors, public officials, general public and customers regarding project plans, designs, identified problems, proposed solutions and estimated time frames.
  • Communicate with foremen, engineers, inspectors, estimators and mappers; and communicate with other departments involved in the project.
  • Make field sketches and prepare layouts for construction of gas or electric systems.
  • Use handwriting and computer to record locations, dimensions, identified problems, proposed layouts, construction plans, time frames, and as-built drawings.
  • Visit sites to evaluate issues of access and existing facilities.

 

 

The Required Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Valid driver’s license with good driving record.
  • Basic computer skills.
  • Organization of time and workspace.
  • Attention to detail in preparing reports, letters, emails, etc.
  • Clear and direct oral and written communication.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office software.
  • Willing to work outdoors in all types of weather conditions

 

The Preferred Qualifications:

  • Some college courses completed in a related field
  • 1+ year in natural gas/underground utility construction

 

Salary range is: $75-95K
